Bark It List Update - Check # 12 Complete

Mom woke me up SUPER early this morning and told me let's go. I looked at her like she was crazy. However, being the good dog I am, I followed her and got in the car - where the heck are we going before the sun even comes up? 35 minutes later we arrived in a big parking lot and there were many other cars with dogs in the back seat. Who are these people/dogs and why are we here?!?  We got out of the car, mom chit chatted with the people and I thought, not doggy daycare today! I need a nap!

Then I got a purple bandanna they told me was for K9 Cancer Survivors. Heck yeah, I am a survivor just had my 4th chemo treatment on Monday! Then it dawned on me, today we were checking #12 off my Bark It List with the help of the Morris Animal Foundation. Mom watches Good Day most mornings when she gets ready for work and sometimes even emails mine and Indigo's photos into Good Day- I like seeing my mug on the big screen. We waited and waited  (remember I got up SUPER early) outside in the courtyard. Good news - I got to hang out with Dr. Bradbury and Tanner. Tanner's daddy Dr. Vida removed my tumor. I hope he knows his dad is a bad ass (Don't worry mom, this is a good thing)!
Next they put some wild booties on me for the segment on winter safety and I was a sport. I thought I would have to wear them on TV, but the segment went so fast -  I was saved the embarrassment. Thank god!! I was going to take one for the team, but was A-Okay that they forgot about that part!

AND THEN IT HAPPENED - We were ushered into the TV studio and I got to see Courtney and Ken, so cool to see them in-person when they are usually in the box in our bedroom. I tried to hide behind mom when the camera woman came walking towards us, but mom kept pushing me out in front. I guess I was supposed to soak in my 2 minutes of fame - I prefer to promote the K9 Cancer Walk and Cancer research from behind mom's computer screen via my blog, FaceBook, Instagram and Twitter! Thank you Courtney for taking the time to interview Dr. Bradbury and Sandy about seasonal dangers to pets and the upcoming K9 Cancer Walk this Sunday. Sandy has a girl Abby who is a cancer survivor - in remission even. I was honored to be able to stand next to her for the segment. The segment went by REALLY fast and then it was time to go.

Dr. Bradbury, Tanner, mom and I took a photo in the green room for my blog. You know if you don't have a photo then it didn't happen!!!

Thank you to everyone who has been supporting #teamsassafras (and especially my mom and dad - this is tough on them too) and to everyone who supports Morris Animal Foundation and their mission to find a cure for K9 cancer. I heard mom rehearsing some facts about K9 Cancer and was shocked at the numbers!

Cancer is one of the leading causes of death in pets worldwide.
Nearly 6 million new dog cancer diagnoses are made each year.
Cancer accounts for nearly 50% of all disease-related pet deaths each year.

Get ready for a fun and emotional day on Sunday! Time for #Team Sassafras to celebrate life and walk in honor of all the dogs who have lost their battle to cancer. Especially Shadow my mom's first weim love.

Registration begins at 9am and the walk starts at 10am  - Don't forget to stop by the Northern CA Weimaraner Booth too. You may know my sissy is a weim, so I'm totally part weim too - right?!?
